Bio
I’m Olivia Lin, born and raised in Marin County, but am currently located in Los Angeles, California, and I LOVE ART!
Art has always been integral to my life. I was surrounded by all forms of craft growing up; both of my parents playing instruments and my grandparents having an impressive 19th century silk print collection in their home. Naturally, I was enrolled in piano, voice, gymnastics, dance, and was signed up for summer camps at my local ceramics studio. And I loved it all.
This background led me to study in Paris for a year at the American University of Paris, where I gained an even greater appreciation for art history through the museum culture, and my professional path in the arts began to take shape. My appreciation for theory and research in visual arts drove me to ask even more questions of the creative world, and about my own manifestations of art.
From ikebana to soft sculpture to oil painting, I have explored a variety of mediums, and learned how they each respond to my personal inquiries of the definitions of fine art and craft. Engaging in both art historical theory as well as the creation of art helped me tremendously in both my technical and emotional understandings of visual culture. I was able to solidify my breadth and depth of knowledge and graduated from USC in May, 2025, with a Bachelors of Arts in Art History.
When creating, I look to express myself in an honest and current state, to best reflect my contemporary cultural view. I engage with my own work through a historical lens, hoping to create media that is clearly representative of myself as well as the current world I live in, the culture of the environment I am in, and the trends of aesthetics in which I am interested. I hope you enjoy this collection of works and essays as much as I enjoyed creating them!
